The after school program provides extra academic classes to children and youth from the village of Karadiyanaru, in the Badulla road region of Batticaloa district. While there are extra OL classes in Karadiyanaru School for Grade 11 students this program in the village is to support students from the lower grades.ChallengeThe children from Karadiyanaru can not easily access after school programs in their region and as such struggle to keep up with schooling.SolutionThe after school program, based in the village, at the pre-school, will enable children to be able to attend an academic program near to their homes and will help those in the lower grades of schooling to be supported by local teachers.Long-Term ImpactThis will be a new program in 2020 and we will assess the impact of the program along with parents, students and the local school at the end of the year.
